Daisy Bates and Little Rock 9

OTD Daisy Bates (Nov 11, 1914 - Nov 4, 1999). Civil rights activist, publisher, journalist, lecturer who played a leading role in the Little Rock, Arkansas, High School integration crisis of 1957. Ms Bates mentored the students known as the ‘Little Rock 9’, beginning with the federal court case, Aaron v Cooper, which set the stage for desegregating the high school. #History
