Magazine preview · Issue One arrives November 1

Help build Black Thread

Black Thread is the monthly magazine from HistorianSpeaks — deeply reported stories on Black history, politics, and culture, written for curious readers and grounded in sources. Founding members make Issue One possible.

Why the name

We call it Black Thread because the story is one continuous line. From Africa and the Middle Passage to the revolution in Haiti, the movement for justice in America, Black Britain's rise, and the news still being written this week — it is one story, not a stack of separate ones. Every issue picks up the thread where the last one left off.
