TD Nov 11, 1979: The Mary McLeod Bethune Council House opened to the public as the Mary McLeod Bethune Memorial Museum and the National Archives for Black Women's History. Located at 1318 Vermont Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., the historic townhouse was the first national headquarters for the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW).
