#OTD Derrick A. Bell Jr (Nov 6, 1930 - Oct 5, 2011). Lawyer, legal scholar, civil rights activist, 1st tenured Black Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. Prof Bell is largely credited as one of the originators of critical race theory (CRT). He 1st worked for the U.S. Justice Department, then the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, where he supervised over 300 school desegregation cases in Mississippi.
