On Jan 22, 2009: Susan Rice confirmed as UN ambassador by the U.S. Senate by unanimous consent. 1st Black woman to hold that office.Rice served as National Security Advisor from 2013-2017 under President Obama. She had previously served on the staff of the National Security Council during President Bill Clinton's 2nd term.
