John Coltrane (1926 - 1967)

John Coltrane is widely viewed as one of the greatest jazz saxphonist of his generation and is viewed as a seminal figure in the development of 20th century jazz. He was a innovator in the use of bebop and hard bop and subsequently established himself as a free jazz musican. He recorded with jazz giants Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk. The spiritual nature of his work is best exemplfied in his most critically album, A Love Supreme (1965). Even today, Coltrane's work is widely played and admired.
