Much like the Black Lives Matter movement in the 21st century, Black Power emerged in the mid-1960's as an important social, political and cultural expression. It accenuated of the need by African americans to assert themselves in the public sphere. It symbolized the desire for political and economic power and emphasized the importance of understanding and appreciating the Black cultural experience within communities of color. Below, find an informational blog which examines various facets of the Black Power project.
