On 13 May 1949, Black communist singer and actor Paul Robeson visited Woolmet colliery near Edinburgh. After meeting with miners and union members, he performed a beautiful rendition of his song, "I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night" to the workers in the local union hall. Earlier in the decade he portrayed a miner working in Wales. This is a recording of the performance and the visit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0bezsMVU7c
