OTD Leona Mitchell (Oct 13, 1949). Operatic soprano who sang for 18 seasons as a leading spinto soprano at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. She is best known for singing “Bess” in the first complete stereo recording of Gershwin's ‘Porgy and Bess’ (1975), which earned her a Grammy Award. #History #MusicIsLife
