Miller's decision to attend Jackson State was influenced by the allure of reviving the glory days of HBCU football, following in the footsteps of legends like Walter Payton, Bob Hayes, and Deacon Jones.
During his time at Jackson State, Miller's skills developed under Sanders' tutelage. In the spring season of 2020, he demonstrated his prowess by accumulating 51 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. The following year, Miller led the Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC) with 109 tackles, 6.5 sacks and earning first-team all-conference honors. In 2022, he amassed over 100 tackles and five forced fumbles. Miller's impressive contributions earned him the prestigious SWAC Defensive Player of the Year title that season.

Following his standout season, Land entered the NCAA portal but ultimately decided to return to Florida A&M, turning down offers from multiple Power Five programs.
