Black Studies:What is to be done?

Black Studies:What is to be done?

Black Studies is an intergral part of the American cultural and academnic landscape. Examinations of the the Black condition are not new. Black intellectuals have engaged in critical examinations of Black life since the late 19th century. The institutionsalization of Black Studies in the academy in the 1960's opened up another dynamic avenue for exploration of the Black condition. The current state of backlash against Black Studies is not new. Sionce the murder of George Floyd in 2020, discussions about Black Lives Matter, wokeism, critical race theory (CRT), affirmative action and now DEI. Although the current moment is fraught, the vibrancy of the field is demonstrated by the hundreds of Black scholars and students across the country who are raising their vocies in opposition to the current assault on DEI.
