Stormé DeLarverie (Dec 24, 1920 - May 24, 2014). Born in New Orleans to a white father and Black mother. A lesbian whose scuffle with the police in 1969 was one of the defining moments of the ‘Stonewall Riots’, spurring the crowd to action. Some have referred to her as "the gay community’s Rosa Parks"
