Richard Allen (Feb 14, 1760 - Mar 26, 1831). Minister, educator, writer. In 1794, founded the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME), 1st independent Black denomination in the U.S. He opened his first AME church in 1794 in Philadelphia.
