

Modjeska Monteith Simkins joined the ancestors (Dec 5, 1899 - Apr 5, 1992). Leader of African American public health reform, social reform and the Civil Rights Movement in South Carolina. Director of Negro Work for the South Carolina Tuberculosis Association during the 1930s, the only Black public health worker in the state. She was forced to resign due to her increased involvement with the NAACP.
