Dr. Mustafa Santiago Ali is the Executive Vice President of Conservation & Justice for the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), former Interim Chief of Programs at the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), and Instructor at American University. He is the Founder and CEO of Revitalization Strategies. He also serves as a commissioner for The American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS). He is an award-winning writer and poet focused on social justice. Dr. Ali is frequently seen on television, including appearances on MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, VICE, FUSE, BET, National Geographic, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, and Democracy NOW! about last night— you just had to be there, to feel the world breathe, to see the unseen rise up like dawn, wrapped in belief, to watch the young and old, hand in hand, a tapestry of joy and need, swaying as one, stitched in urgency.
and then she stepped out—kamala—like the stars took form, a quiet power gathering, shifting the storm. the crowd roared, a sound that bent space and time, like galaxies turned, like purpose and rhyme.
music rose, a pulse racing to keep pace, with her steps, with our dreams, in this crowded place. it felt like prophecy, a new light breaking, a vision of us, no one forsaken.
and we knew in our bones, the dark days would fade, as we cast our vote, bound to the promise she made. she’s the next and the first, of us and for all, a leader to rise, when our hearts made the call.
