The Tulsa Massacre occurred in Tulsa, Oklahoma from May 31st to June 1st. A white mob attacked the affluent African American business district in Greenwood known as the Black Wall Street. White citizens were deputized as a local militia and airplanes were deployed to drop bombs on the community, More than 300 African Americans lost their lives and more than 1,200 Black businesses, churches and homes were destroyed as a result of the violence.
