Ella Louise Jenkins (1924-2024) is known as the First Lady of Children's music. She was a performer of folk and children's music. Her 1995 album Multicultural Children's Songs has long been the most popular Smithsonian Folkways relase. She appeared on numerous television programs. Her career spanned 67 years and she firmly established the genre of children's music as a serious endeavor.
