Charles Diggs Jr., African American Politican

Charles Diggs Jr (Dec 2, 1922 - Aug 24, 1998). 1st African American elected to Congress from Michigan. An early member of the civil rights movement, he attended the murder trial of Emmett Till. He was the 1st chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. The honorable Congressman Diggs attended Fisk University and the University of Michigan.
