Black women played an integral role in planning and organizing the March on Washington. Dorothy Height (National Association of Colored Women) and Anna Arnold Hedgeman (National Council of Churches) worked to make sure women were included on the program. Initially, there were no female speakers. Daisy Bates and Rosa Parks spoke. Myrlie Evers missed her speaking spot due to traffic. Other women speakers included Diane Nash, Elvira Turner and Gloria Richardson, whose speech was shortcircuited by an event marshal. Josephine Baker also spoke at the event. Below please find some phtographs of the participation in the march by Black women. #BlackWomen #MarchonWashington #MahaliaJackson #DaisyBates #RosaParks #JosephineBaker
