On Arnaldo Tamayo Méndez (Jan 29, 1942). 1st Latin American, 1st person of African ancestry in space; proclaimed at the time as the 1st Black cosmonaut. As a member of the crew of Soyuz 38, he became the 1st Cuban citizen to travel into space.
