Sept 21, 1905: Atlanta Life Insurance is founded by Alonzo Franklin Herndon. Herndon, formerly enslaved, founded Atlanta Life after observing families lacking the savings to bury their lost loved ones. The company went on to become a vehicle for protection, generational financial security and career employment for the country's most at-risk citizens.
