The term Afro-Cuban refers to Cubans of African descent or those who identify as Black. Its estimated that approximately 1 million of 11.2 million Cubans identify in this matter. The island also contains up to 3 million individuals who identify as mulatto or mestizo. The majority of Afro Cubans are concentrated in Eastern Cuba and Havana has the largest population. This population is also comprised of Africans from Angola and Black immigrants from Jamaica and Cuba.
