Apr 29, 1992: An all-white jury in California chose to acquit 3 of 4 LAPD officers charged with excessive force in the beating of Rodney King during a violent arrest in Mar 1991. They couldn’t agree on a verdict for the 4th officer, despite incriminating video evidence. The not guilty verdict resulted riots in Los Angeles following the acquittal. Over the next 3 days 63 people are killed and hundreds of buildings are destroyed.
