Rodney King Beating, 1991

On March 3rd 1991, Rodney Glen King, an African American man, was severely beaten by Los Angeles police officers following a high speed chase. The vicious beating inflicted on King was caught on videotape by a uniinvolved passerby George Holliday. Holiday send the video to a local news channel KTLA. The video caused a public outcry and demands for justice. Following the beating, an all-white jury acquitted the four officers involved in the King beating of all charges. The verdict became the catalyst for the Los Angeles uprising.
