Preston "John" Porter Jr., Lynching Victim

On Nov 16, 1900: 15yr-old Black teenager, Preston “John” Porter Jr was burned alive while chained to a railroad stake in Limon, Colorado. Accused of murdering a young white girl, a mob of over 300 white people (men, women and children) from throughout Lincoln County gathered to participate in the brutal public spectacle lynching.
