Mary Magdalena Lewis Tate (Jan 3, 1871 - Dec 28, 1930). AKA “Mother Tate", evangelist, 1st woman to serve as a Bishop in a nationally recognized denomination. Mother Tate founded a Pentecostal denomination, The Church of the Living God, the Pillar and Ground of the Truth, in 1903. Its 1st convocation was held in June 1903 in Greenville, AL The church was the 1st Pentecostal Holiness church in America founded by a woman.
