On 17 August 1887, black nationalist Marcus Garvey was born in Jamaica. He inspired a movement in Jamaica and the US called Pan-Africanism, although he was condemned by most African-American radicals for his support for racial segregation and for "returning" Black people to Africa. His ideology even led him to meet with the KKK to discuss how to separate white and Black people. This is a great compendium of radical African-American writing, including Garvey: https://libcom.org/library/black-revolutionaries-us-communist-interventions-vol-3
