Note: Marching on Washington is a time honored American tradition. From the industrial armies of Jacob Coxey who marched in the 1890's to the Bonus Army, World War I veterans who marched to collect unpaid benefits, Americans have marched on Washington to seek redress from the government, The 1963 March on Washington continued this time-honored tradition. Its iconic imagery related to Jobs and Justice punctuated by the "fierce urgency of now" in dismantling Jim Crow has made itone of the representative events of the Black Freedom Struggle in America. Today is no different than the past. The murders of Ahmaud Arberry, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Rayshard Brooks and Jacob Blake dramitize the need for continued vigilance and attention to social justice and equlaity in American society. African Americans continue to use these marches to highlight the need for immediate change. Below please find video and media, past and present documenting this solemn event.
