Note: This informational blog explores the social movement to end police brutality in Nigeria. Although the protests have erupted in October 2020, opposition to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) can be traced to 2017. Current protests against the extralegal activities of the SARS units have garnered international attention. The Nigerian government has vowed to disband the unit, but protestors view these promises are empty and demonstrations continue.
