The Black Canadian experience is unique in North America. Currently, most of the Black residents of Candada are from the Caribbean and Africa. The population also consists of African American immigrants dating back to the American Revolution (1776-1883), its aftermath and their descendants. Black Canadians have made many tangible contributions to the culture. They form the third-largest group of ethnic minorities folowing South Asian and Chinese Canadians.
