May 27, 1994: The Arsenio Hall Show aired its final episode after 6yrs on the air. The show debuted on Jan 3, 1989 but after a few years, ratings and prestige had been declining in the face of competition from David Letterman and Jay Leno. Hall's contract was set to expire in Dec, 1994, but he announced his departure earlier on Apr 18th, citing the decline in the show's performance.
