Editor's Note: This poem is the fourth in our Democracy and Hope Series. This series will highlight hopeful aspects about our Democracy using various genres including poems, interviews, short stories, and articles about political events. This poem focuses on the horrific murder of Sonya Massey in Springfield, Illinois on July 6th.

This poem is dedicated to the 53,000+ brothers who participated in the #WinWithBlackMen video call. Together, we raised over $1.3 million from 1700 donors to support @KamalaHarris 📷

The ground rumbles,  a seismic whisper through history’s bones,  Black men rise,  not in silence,  but with voices like thunder,  echoing off the walls of a nation’s discontent.

Kamala Harris,  her name a promise,  etched in the cracked earth  where hope meets grit.  We stand,  a legion of shadows and light,  draped in the weight of our ancestors’ dreams,  lifting her,  not just as a candidate,  but as the very embodiment  of our collective yearning.

The air thickens with our resolve,  a tapestry woven from the sinew of struggle,  each thread a testament  to the fires we’ve walked through,  each heartbeat a drum,  pounding out a rhythm of change.  Our voices rise,  a chorus of defiance  against the relentless tide of history’s cold shoulder.

White collar, blue collar,  no collar—  we merge,  a flood of colors and creeds,  an unbreakable unity  formed in the crucible of our shared pain and promise.  We stand,  arm in arm,  a human barricade  against the forces of division.

Kamala’s ascent  is not just a climb,  but a cataclysmic shift,  a break in the sky,  a crack in the façade of the old order.  We become the storm,  raging with purpose,  a tempest of hope  demanding a seat at the table.

The ground quakes,  as if recognizing the weight of our purpose,  the rumble of a nation  waking from its slumber,  united in the singular act  of lifting her up  to lead us into the dawn of what could be.

So we stand,  this unyielding force,  our dreams folded into every vote,  our voices woven into every chant,  knowing that our power  is in the act of standing,  of rising together,  of carving out a future  with the precision of a storm’s rage. ©️MustafaSantoagoAli
